Taking the Scenic Route Through Conway
Many travelers enter the Skagit Valley through Mount Vernon or Burlington, which are great hubs for visiting the valley and are typically recommended routes by your GPS. But many locals know that Conway offers a scenic route through Fir Island and acres of farmland on your way toward La Conner, Anacortes, or even Bow-Edison.
If you’ve got the time, we recommend you take the scenic route through Conway. This is particularly true during peak seasons, when the central area of Burlington and Mount Vernon can be busy. Trust us, the extra time is worth the views. And be sure to stop at one of the eateries or farm stands along the way!
Anacortes is a stunning waterfront community with a beautiful marina, delicious restaurants, quirky shops, and luxurious places to stay. Whether it’s a stopover on the way to the islands or your weekend destination, Anacortes has something for everyone.
